A huge Thank you goes to the residents of Grand Oaks, Palm City. They packed us some more snack bags. Thanks to Lynda Zainitzer for organizing and bringing the snack bags to us. Our unhoused friends can feel the love from the hand packed snack bags. Thanks to Grand Oaks of Palm City for hosting this lovely event every month. We appreciate you.

Here was our Burger King Stop on a radiant day. Thanks to Graham who picked up the Publix Subs we served on Monday. Thanks to Publix for the $100 gift card to help buy the subs. We appreciate their help in feeding our unhoused residents. We served 60 people on Monday. We have served 847 meals to 189 different individuals so far in 2025.

The "In His Shoes award Celebration" was a great event. Thanks to Treasure Coast Homeless Services Council for nominating and awarding Tent City Helpers with the Point in Time Partner Award. We were honored and wore special shoes to celebrate Walter Washington's life of good deeds.
It was great to network. We talked with Peggy from LAHIA and some of the outreach workers from Ritelife Services. Rayme Nuckles, the Visionary Leader of Treasure Coast Homeless Services Council did a great job of being the Master of Ceremonies. Roshada also from TCHSC was looking fabulous in her pink and back suit and pointy pink buckled shoes. She looks a bit different on our Monday deliveries LOL.
Thanks to Jerry, our vice president, who drove us to Ft. Pierce. Thanks to Martha for always being a great supporter, volunteer and friend.

Here’s Amber and Monica packing grocery bags. We gave out 60 yesterday to our unhoused residents. They pack a community made snack pack with a Treasure Coast Food bank Back pack bag, a can of pasta, a banana, orange, grapes, a bottle of water, a spoon and antiseptic wipes. This was delivered yesterday with a half of an ultimate Publix sub. Thanks to our volunteers!
Love this photo. It shows in the distance a very young couple who have found themselves suddenly homeless. They received a tent, two hot meals, two grocery bags and some Marty bus tickets. In the foreground you see Dawn and Vicki talking after serving up the meals. On the right side of the photo is Dee and Roshada talking about housing. The sun is getting low in the sky and time for our next stop.... We served 57 people on Monday. There were some happy campers...
We need a shelter for people like this lost couple. True not everyone would stay in a shelter but for those that just want a safe place to put their head down without having to fight nature like with the Racoons, Rats, Snakes, Squirrels, Mosquitoes and even Skunks. They do not want to worry about being arrested for trespassing when they just have no money for a hotel. Let's be a humane place and find a way to help the vulnerable.

It's another Cinderfella Story... Thanks to our most recent donors we were able to buy new shoes (4 1/2 stars rated) for a bulk price. Generally speaking our unhoused are walking a lot and have only one pair of shoes. So new shoes are like heaven. So for the time being we will not be needing shoes. Thanks to our generous donors the new shoes will be very much appreciated!

Look at these cuties Dee and Tucker. Tucker, the puppy, was glued to Dee's shoulder the whole time at our Flagler stop. I do not know how Dee was able to give and record Marty Bus Tickets but she did! When it was time to go I heard Dee try and make an offer $$ to keep Tucker. The owner declined. But by next week Dee may wear down the owner and find the perfect deal. We already have one puppy adopted by a volunteer on our delivery rounds. They call it "Puppy Love" 🎵
Dee comes to us from the Calvary Community Church's outreach. We appreciate Dee's consistency and help each Monday. We also appreciate the consistent financial support that the Calvary Community has donated to Tent City Helpers.⭐⛺

Here was our first stop at Flagler Park stop at 3pm. We served 12 unhoused people at Flagler. Roshada from Treasure Coast Services Council joined us at our 6 stops. Taking names of people she may be able to help find housing. Our volunteers are fantastic! Yesterday we had Cheri Chauvin and Mary Ann Centrone provide the oranges and bannas. Monica provided strawberries that went into our grocery bags. Thanks to Amber Smith and Monica for packing 60 grocery bags. Then we had Vicki pick up the food at Charlie's. She and Dawn helped serve the hot meals. Jerry Walters picked up all the grocery bags and handed them out. Graham helped hand out personal hygiene and camping supplies. Dee very side tracked here with the puppy handed out Marty Bus Passes. It is the Teamwork that makes the Dreamwork!
Thanks to everyone that helped make our deliveries a blessing to others. We care about the most vulnerable residents.

A Huge Thanks to Charlie's Neighborhood Grill! We fed 57 unhoused people yesterday. They were thrilled to get such a beautiful meal from Charlie's! I heard many "Yums" and hand signals of a thumbs up. We have served 787 meals in 2025. We had 5 people yesterday that were new to being homeless. 😢 We get asked regularly where do we go? Where can we camp? Where is it legal? It is really difficult to not have the answers and not be able to share a shelter location. We have no shelters in Martin County. The few that are for specific populations like homeless families or abused women are all full.
As sad as it is for their housing situation, this meal and our service with a smile, hopefully makes them feel full and satisfied until the next meal.
Thanks to the team at Charlie's and Donny Orr for cooking and organizing such a fabulously hearty meal!

Florida and Martin County had some of the largest numbers of unsheltered homeless. Florida has 54% of unhoused people are unsheltered. Martin, St. Lucie and Indian River Counties have 80% of their unhoused are unsheltered. No surprise just disappointing that Martin County does not have a shelter or encampment for our unhoused residents. We have to do better. These are people who are moms, dads, brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, that find themselves without housing. Lets come up with humane options...

Thanks to Brenda Gonzalez for making and serving this delicious meal. We served 56 people who are unhoused. We have served 729 meals this year. We met 6 people who were new to us. We get asked all the time where can someone put a tent. The only legal place to put a tent is at the camping grounds. All the camping grounds have a limited stay of 2 weeks in a row and a total of 3 weeks for the year. There are no safe, legal places to put up a tent to live in. We need a encampment or shelter. People are suffering...

We served 55 people that are unhoused. Bringing our total of meals served to 673 for 2025. We have seen 180 different individuals that are unhoused just this year. The numbers are growing. We are extremely Thankful to the Treasure Coast Progressive Humanitarians. They collected non-perishable food at the very successful Fort Pierce Punk Rock Flea Market. Then they got together and packed a variety of snacks in one gallon bags. These are the snack packs that we include in the grocery bags each week. Brenna brought all the snack bags to us.
The second photo all all the snack bags in bins ready to be stored to be used as needed. The Progressive Humanitarians made over 180 snack bags. With serving about 55-60 people that are unhoused a week the snack bags are much needed.

We are excited to announce our partnership with Charlie's Neighborhood Bar and Grill. Donny Orr the owner of Charlie's contacted us and provided the delicious meal last Monday. This was the Burger King and we had some full happy campers. Donny has volunteered his team at Charlie's to provide a meal once a month for our local unhoused residents. We are thrilled to have another restaurant on board in helping our unhoused residents.
Let us support our partners. Charlie's is located between Salerno Rd and Pomeroy St. at 400 SE Parrot Cir. Stuart, Fl. You can call at 772-288-4326 and book a table. You are sure to have a great time.

We met, William, another Army veteran at Flagler Park. We asked what he needed he said everything. So he had a meal, took a bag of groceries (with community made snack packs), a cold Gatorade, a tent, sleeping bag, a flash light, bug spray, pair of jeans his size and an army duffle we had that had just been donated. We also gave him Kudos and TLC.
We wish there was a shelter for this man that served our country. Our community should at least have a safe and secure camping encampment for our unhoused residents to get back on their feet again.
Now he will try to find a place to hide at in the woods, not too far from conveniences. It is a bit of a cat and mouse sad game. He will try to survive and make a living trying to not have law enforcement find out where he is putting his head down at night. He can get Trespassed and have to move or possibly arrested or worse incarcerated. Our unhoused residents are not criminals. They need services and a safe place to lay their head down.

Thanks to Sandy for donating this bike and to Carl who makes sure the bikes are running well. This young lady works and the bike will make it easier for her to get there and back. The bike also has a cool foldable basket on it. It will be useful when she picks up groceries to take to her camp. Thanks Sandy and Carl!

The 2024 Annual Homelessness Assessment Report (AHAR to Congress)
*Key Findings - One in every three individuals experiencing homelessness reported having experienced chronic patterns of homelessness, or 152,585 people. This is the highest number of individuals experiencing chronic patterns of homelessness counted in the PIT. Individuals experiencing chronic patterns of homelessness have increased by 27 percent since data was first collected in 2007. Sixty-five percent of all individuals experiencing chronic patterns of homelessness, or more than 99,500 people, were counted in unsheltered locations. This is also the highest number recorded since data collection began.
Thanks to Cher Bladz who made us snack bags. She added a foil wrapped coffee pod with a note explaining that they can be burnt to keep mosquitoes away. She also included a penny from Heaven taped to a heart.
We have such kind people in our followers and volunteers. Here Cher is with our mascot Dolly (the stuffed ninja hamster). Thanks Cher, and her tiny puppy for thinking of others less fortunate during these cold nights.

Thanks to Kathy Ahearn for donating this great bike. It was Ryan's birthday last week and we delivered him the bike this week.
*Even though the HUD report to Congress stated that veterans are the only group of our country wide groups of homeless that the numbers have improved. Due to specific federal programs targeting veterans.
Ryan is a veteran. He texted us this photo of himself in his uniform (So young, brave, and handsome). He included a nice Thank You note. We have to do better as a community to help getting veterans out of the woods.

The 2024 Annual Homelessness Assessment Report (AHAR to Congress)
Key Findings -
People who identify as Black, African American, or African continue to be overrepresented among the population experiencing homelessness. People who identify as Black made up just 12 percent of the total U.S. population and 21 percent of the U.S. population living in poverty but were 32 percent of all people experiencing homelessness. However, the share of people experiencing homelessness who identify as Black (of any ethnicity) decreased from 37 percent of all people experiencing homelessness in 2023.
*This change could partially be due to changes in the way race and ethnicity was reported this year and the inclusion of additional reporting categories. However, in recent years, many Communities of Care (CoCs) have engaged in additional technical assistance to correct for bias in the allocation of housing and prevention resources. This decline could also reflect the effects of those and other local efforts to more fairly distribute resources.
The 2024 Annual Homelessness Assessment Report (AHAR to Congress)
*Key Findings - About one in every five people experiencing homelessness on a single night in 2024 was age 55 or older. More than 104,000 people experiencing homelessness were aged 55 to 64, and just over 42,150 people were over age 64. Nearly half of adults aged 55 or older (46%) were experiencing unsheltered homelessness in places not meant for human habitation.
The 2024 Annual Homelessness Assessment Report (AHAR to Congress)
*Key Findings - Finally good news!!
Veterans were the only population to report continued declines in homelessness. Between 2023 and 2024, the number of veterans experiencing homelessness declined by eight percent, or 2,692 fewer veterans. The number of veterans experiencing homelessness has declined by 55 percent since data collection about veteran homelessness began in 2009. The declines in sheltered and unsheltered experiences of homelessness were similar, (56% and 54%). These declines are the result of targeted and sustained funding to reduce veteran homelessness.
The 2024 Annual Homelessness Assessment Report (AHAR to Congress)
*Key Findings - Nearly 150,000 children experienced homelessness on a single night in 2024, reflecting a 33 percent increase (or 32,618 more children) over 2023. Between 2023 and 2024, children (under the age of 18) were the age group that experienced the largest increase in homelessness.
The 2024 Annual Homelessness Assessment Report (AHAR to Congress)
*Key Findings - People in families with children had the largest single year increase in homelessness. Between 2023 and 2024, 39 percent more people in families with children experienced homelessness. Overall, the number of people experiencing homelessness increased by 18 percent.
The 2024 Annual Homelessness Assessment Report (AHAR to Congress)
*Key Findings - Nearly all populations reached record levels. Homelessness among people in families with children, individuals, individuals with chronic patterns of homelessness, people staying in unsheltered locations, people staying in sheltered locations, and unaccompanied youth all reached the highest recorded numbers in 2024.
The 2024 Annual Homelessness Assessment Report (AHAR to Congress)
*Key Findings - The number of people experiencing homelessness on a single night in 2024 was the highest ever recorded.
A total of 771,480 people – or about 23 of every 10,000 people in the United States – experienced homelessness in an emergency shelter, safe haven, transitional housing program, or in unsheltered locations across the country. Several factors likely contributed to this historically high number. Our worsening national affordable housing crisis, rising inflation, stagnating wages among middle- and lower-income households, and the persisting effects of systemic racism have stretched homelessness services systems to their limits. Additional public health crises, natural disasters that displaced people from their homes, rising numbers of people immigrating to the U.S., and the end to homelessness prevention programs put in place during the COVID-19 pandemic, including the end of the expanded child tax credit, have exacerbated this already stressed system.
We will be going out today for our deliveries. Thanks to our volunteers from last week, Vicki, Stephanie, Leslie, Jan, Jerry, Monty, and Brenda. Your warm hearted smiles makes everyone feel a bit better. Tony is showing off his newly acquired supplies and meal to go. We served 52 people at our six stops.

This is the articulated Thanks and Appreciation we receive every week. Some of the appreciation is shown in a smile, a “thanks”, “God bless you” “you’re an angel”. This is a beautiful Thank You note from our friends, who is a senior living out of her van, Jan. Thanks Jan for always telling us how much you appreciate us and writing us beautiful Thank you notes. It is a privilege knowing you 💕.
One of our friends who is unhoused sent us this photo yesterday thanking us for their tent. It warms our heart knowing that on a cold night we have helped keeping them warm. Through a donation earlier we were able to give all our campers a new zip up the front hoodie and a pair of sweat pants to keep them warm. We are all volunteers so every dollar donated goes toward helping the unhoused. If you would like to donate to our non-profit that is a 501(c)(3) go to www.tentcityhelpers.org and click the donate button. Thanks in advance!
Thanks to our supporter and friend Mary Ellen for buying an electric bike for our poet friend who is unhoused. Bradly was really happy to be blessed with such a generous gift to honor our friend Ann Malone who made her transition on Saturday. We want to thank Unity Church of Jensen Beach. They have donated tithes to us this month again. They have moved to the free standing building behind CVS in Jensen Beach on the same side as Winn Dixie. Our non-profit is not associated with one church, we are nondenominational. We accept all help and donations from all congregations that care about our homeless community. Unity of Jensen Beach is a caring and compassionate Church. All are welcome to their 10 am service.
They are in the The Pineapple Chalet, at 3472 NE Savannah Rd, Jensen Beach, FL 34957
Their Phone is: (772) 934-6338
A camp like this one, is where a quiet woman and her dog were raided by the police a few days ago. First a helicopter then two 4-wheelers came to give her a trespass notice. They had to move somewhere else in 48 hours. She called us crying saying, 1. I have no addictions, 2. I have just lost my job. 3. I have a college degree 4. Where can I go?
The police evidently told here to go to "The Source" in Vero. When we went to the Source they said they keep getting more and more people from Martin County referred to them and why does Martin County not implement their own Services for the houseless.
This woman has lived in Martin County for over 24 years and does not want to move to Vero Beach for a night on the Dignity Bus.
We must come together as a community and get our local government to follow through on House Bill 1365. It took effect Oct. 1 2024 and makes it illegal for anyone to sleep or camp outside without a permit in Florida. It also requires camping areas. Municipalities must set up camping areas for the homeless community. These areas must be approved by the Florida Department of Children and Families and include:
*Security
*Behavioral Health Services
*Bathrooms and running water
So far we have heard nothing from our community leaders. They seem to be afraid that other unhoused people will come here if we have services, but in actuality we are sending our residents to other counties to burden their resources.
The Martin County Fairgrounds would be a great asset in putting in a safe and secure camping area, where resources could gather and help those in need.
Homelessness should not be criminalized. We need to help people out of homelessness not punish them with jail time...

Everyone that has visited us for the last three weeks have gotten a new zip up the front sweatshirt, or sweat pants. Thanks to our generous donors that financed the new Sweat Shirts and Sweat Pants.
